Promoting Carbondale’s Role in the LiveWell Colorado Initiative!

When:   5:00 – 8:00 pm (and beyond)

Where: Two Featured Locations

  • Main Street and periphery – businesses up and down Main Street and just off Main.
  • Third Street Center hosting wellness activities and tables for practitioners and businesses not in the core or periphery. Community Garden representatives, Bread Oven community and more on the south lawn.

Why: Collaboratively we are raising awareness of all the wellness opportunities that are available in Carbondale and beyond.

Whose Involved: Yoga studios, Restaurants, Juice Bars, Coffee Shops, Bike Shops, Sports businesses, Gyms/Fitness Centers, Physician Offices, Health Coaches, Nutritionists and more!

Play Spring into Wellness BINGO – Celebrating Healthy Eating Active Living (H.E.A.L.)

Pick up a Bingo card at 4th and Main or at Third Street Center and collect 6 stamps or initials from 6 participating businesses in downtown and 6 participating practitioners, businesses or gardeners, CSAs at Third Street Center. Turn in your completed Bingo at 4th and Main or Third Street Center by 8 pm to be included in drawing for donated prizes. You will be notified by e-mail or by phone if you won a prize and will be instructed to pick your prize at Carbondale Recreation Center after Sunday, April 3rd.

Spring Into Wellness First Friday Downtown

4th and Main: Visit the Carbondale Recreation and Community Center Activities led by Recreation Department Director Erik Brendlinger and his talented staff offering Active Living demonstrations  by the following groups. These programs are all ongoing and offered at the Carbondale Recreation and Community Center.

  • The SilverSneakers exercise program will be giving a demonstration and explanation of their program.
  • Sahn Tae Kwon Do forms and board breaking demonstration
  • The Roaring Fork Pickleball Association will be demonstrating their sport  and the public can give it a try.  We will set up a regulation sixed court on the 4th street .
  • The public is also invited to participate in The Erg Challenge.  We will have two indoor rowers set up and participants can race head to head over a timed course of 200 meters. The fastest competitors of the night will win a 20 punch pass to the Carbondale Recreation and Community Center and the John M. Fleet Pool.
  • Garfield County Live Well will provide some printed information and some prizes for the event.
  • Another co-sponsor of the event, Sandro Torres with Custom Body Fitness will be setting up a booth and promoting his “6 week sexy slim challenge” campaign and conducting Body Composition Tests.
  • Aloha Mountain Cyclery – Aaron Taylor –  is offering Bicycle Love at 4th and Main Streets. Quick bicycle repair assessments, bicycle maintenance and purchasing advice, quick adjustments, lube for your chains and air for your tires. Pedal your way into spring! THANK YOU, Aaron.

Whether you’ve had a long week or are getting ready for a relaxing/fulfilling weekend. Wrap it up or press the play button, by reviving yourself through the practice of yoga.  We will be exploring our intentions through the third chakra, breath work, visualizations and postures. Please bring a yoga mat, water bottle, and any props that you may use to adjust your poses.

It differs from hard styles because it emphasizes softness, relaxation, mind body integration, meditation & Chi (breath-energy) development. The ultimate goal is health & longevity.
